The exact gift you get depends on which retailer you go to as well as which contract you buy but it helps to be aware of the different types that are available. Here’s a brief overview of the types of gifts you might get with your mobile phone contract.

1. Laptops – These are the most popular free gifts – who wouldn’t want free laptops with mobile phones? However, if you already have a laptop then one of the other gifts may be more appropriate.
2. Cash back – For those of you who are more pragmatic, you may just want to get some cash back for buying a mobile phone. Some retailers will offer cash back on some of their contracts -just make sure you choose the automatic cash back option even though it pays less as you’re much more likely to actually get your money!
3. Xbox 360 – Yes, i’s true. Some mobile phone retailers will offer a free Xbox 360 and in some cases a game with it for buying a mobile phone contract through them rather than going to their competitors. You may also find some deals that offer a PS3 or a Nintendo Wii with their mobile phones although Xbox 360′s are probably the most common.
4. Sat navs – Getting a satellite navigation system free with your phone may not be the most exciting of the three gifts on offer but they can be very useful. Just make sure that the phone you’re buying doesn’t come with sat nav built into as standard otherwise this could be a waste of time!some of the more advanced phones do come with sat nav built in so this is definitely something you need to consider.

Even though there are a range of different types of free gifts you can buy with your mobile phone that doesn’t mean that you should base your decision on which one you get. It’s nearly always cheap[er in the long run to go for a mobile phone contract that is the best for you than it is to spend too much and get one that isn’t right for you. Free laptops with mobile phones are a great incentive but should not be the main reason you get a phone.
